About Us
|
hightechREDNECK.COM began as an idea in the summer of 1999 on a drive down Interstate-10 from Sonora, Texas, to Austin.
Co-founders Wade Jones and Scott Callaway were on their way home from looking at the fourth in a series of unsatisfactory leases. Number Four was particularly depressing. It sat at the end of 18 miles of dirt road and through three stretch gates. Its 1,000 acres were comprised solely of one tremendously unhuntable mountain. There were no ponds or creeks or rivers of any sort. In fact, there wasn't a drop of water on the entire place. There was no sign of any game, except for a 6-foot rattlesnake. There were no facilities, no electricity and no potable water. In short, it wasn't what they had envisioned from the classified ad.
On that long road back to Austin, they asked themselves a question: How could outdoorsmen in search of a lease or club be prevented from making pointless journeys to look at a piece of land that did not meet their needs? The answer: More information.
They realized that there were certain steps to finding a lease or club locating the land itself, contacting the landowner, setting up a time to meet with the landowner, visiting the land, debating its virtue, haggling about the price, agreeing on the price, filling open spots that were more or less common to almost every lease or hunting club. In other words, there was a process, and in that process there were many steps that could be centralized on the Web.
So that's what they did. They took the process to the Web, made it simpler and increased the amount of decision-making information.
hightechREDNECK.COM's vision is to provide outdoorsmen, landowners, lease/club managers, guides and outfitters a centralized location to exchange information, purchase services and, most of all, enjoy our sport. After all, hunting and fishing are, at their core, pleasures we should savor, not be disenchanted by. The pursuit lies in the fair chase of the game, not in chasing down a place to hunt or fish. |
